The data collect from you is submitted by you verbally, sent by email or text. The purpose of this information is for enabling effective communication in providing my service to you. Please read through my privacy policy for further information, a copy of this will be given to you to sign stating that you received and understood the content of this policy.
What is the General Data Protection Regulations 2018 (GDPR) and how does it affect you?
The GDPR replaces the 1998 Data Protection Act to ensure your personal and sensitive confidential data is kept private and held securely and that it is processed in the way that you have agreed to. It protects your rights as a consumer of a service or product that might involve your identifiable data, e.g. your name and address or whether you have a specific condition. It also covers any session records, text messages or emails we exchange.
Personal Data collected from my website and how it is used.
For online uses data collected when you make an inquiry through the contact form will be your name, email address, contact number and further details if you choose to leave it. I will use data provided by yourself to assist you regarding your inquiry about the counselling service I provide. Information given through the contact form will be deleted after our correspondence.
Please be aware that transmission of data and information via the internet cannot always be guaranteed secure, therefore I would ask you to think about the level of personal information you wish to share. Alternatively, you can contact me on the mobile number provided to inquire about my services.
Data collected from our counselling session.
During our first session together, I will collect information to register you as a new client. Therefore your full name, age, address, phone number and GP details will be collect on the client confidential form. I will also collect information with regard to any medications you are currently taking and a contact number in case of an emergency. (If you wish to provide it)
I will use your data to manage payment from you for my services, manage my therapeutic relationship with you and send you details of my counselling service when necessary.

Record of session Notes
Therapeutic notes taken from our counselling sessions are coded by a number and kept to a minimum, unless there is a safe guarding issue/ risk to yourself or significant other, where it would be recorded in more detail.
Secure Storage
I have put in place security measures to ensure your information is held securely by using passwords and codes to access. Hard copy documents are stored securely and kept separate from our recorded therapeutic session notes. For the use of communication via emails, texts and phone calls, my work mobile requires a secure password to access a locked screen.
Disclosure of your personal data
I do not share any personal information about you with other organisations or people except in the following situations:
If I feel you or someone else is at significant harm, it then will become necessary for me to share your information with a third party. Unless the risk is imminent, I will discuss this with you before appropriate action is taken. Legally I do have an obligation to break confidentiality in compliance with the law, if I gain knowledge or information concerning the safety of a child, a vulnerable adult, knowledge of acts of terrorism, fraud, drug trafficking and money laundering. (Discussed in our counselling contract).
Data Retention
I will keep client records for 5 years as advised by my insurers, that in the event of a claim, the Statute of Limitations would apply. This is a law prescribing a period of limitation for the bringing of actions of certain kinds and lasts for up to 5 years. After this time, I will destroy your paper records by shredding. I will also delete electronic copies of your information sent via email within three months after the therapeutic process has ended.
Your Right to Access and Your Right to Erasure
You have the right to request a copy of your personal information and you have right to request your information to be amended or erased. (Please be mindful that in rare cases these rights are not applicable. For example: I have a legal obligation or lawful reason to retain original information.)
Data Portability
You have the right to receive your personal information which you previously provided, and the right to transfer that information to a third party of your choice. (In rare cases these rights are not applicable, for example, if I need to keep original information for legal obligation or lawful reasons).
Does my website use 'cookies'?
Yes, my website uses cookies. These are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are used in order to make websites work efficiently, as well as analyze how users use the site. Personal information from your device is collected such as geolocation data, IP address and other information which relates to your activity through the site. You can choose your use of cookies via the pop up cookie notification and by following the instructions of your device preferences.

My website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google. Inc. as a third party company. “Cookies” are used to evaluate how visitors use this site. Therefore it collects mainly three things, the number of site visits, number of page views and the type of device used, for example, a mobile, laptop or desktop. In general the information collected shows behaviour patterns of website usage and activity. Google’s use and ability to share information collected from this website is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. However, if required to do so by law, Google will transfer required visitor information from this site.
